Regarding the previous consent form, there are still people who haven't handed up yet. PSs, please check the namelist below and make sure you collect the consent forms from them and pass it to your PSs by wednesday(29/2)

1. Full uniform (Seniors-Do not forget anything, including whistle and penknife)

"Yeoman Service @ HQ (With Melissa)"

Hi girls! Dawn 'ere! Went to Guides HQ with Mel today for Yeoman! I was so worried about it at first, but had a lot of fun in the end :)

I have to admit we were kinda late for service-Melissa and I made the silly mistake of taking the wrong direction for the Circle line (took the one to Douby Ghaut instead of Harbourfront 0.0") and didn't realised this until like, 3 stops later? LAWLZ. (^_^")d

Anyway, when we got there, there were a few customers around trying out Guide uniforms and things like that, although at the time, Mel and I were pasting pricetags on packets of Famous Amos cookies. Oh man, I wanted to eat them so bad.. (TT.TT'') oh, and then we helped get items for customers and later packing sweets into smaller packets. (Again, the TEMPTATION...)

About 4pm, the shop was mostly quiet, so we slacked with the New Town Guides for a bit. And then...a whole bus of Brownie/Tweenies came. WAVE 2!! OMG they were so cute! ^w^ By that time, Mel was mostly in charge of calculating stuff ( I lent her my calculator :9) while the New Town Guides and me were..running around helping the Guiders, finding the right sizes for the Tweenies, etc. It was the most fun part of the whole day :D

Mel told me (and on Facebook) that some of the kids called her 'auntie', despite her bein' the youngest helper, and her telling them that she was 13 and today was her birthday. They didn't believe her, but some were sweet 'nuff to wish her happy birthday! ^^ (LOL) Also, she showed me a list of items they bought and majority was on snacks!! Fine, so we bought some and ate them too (Melissa bought TWO packs of Roller Coaster, I bought one), but quoting from my status, "For primary school kids, Brownies/Tweenies sure can snack." Haha, right Auntie Mel?? XD

In all, I had a LOT of fun today. It's a shame that Venice and Yan Wen couldn't go...

PS-Happy birthday again AUNTIE MEL!! Love xiao mei mei XD

"HQ Yeoman :D"

Sheri here:) on the 8 Feb, Kai Ting and I wen to Girl Guides HQ for our Yeomans.:) We helped Auntie Betty, together with 3 different guides from different schools to mend the shop.:) it was an enriching and fun journey. The other guides from the different schools talked about how was guiding in their school, to my surprise they had more then 60 people!! and when i told them that we had only 20 senors they were equally shocked:p HAHA... through this program, i had a chance to bond with my sec one and get to know her better as a person and make new friends too!!:D well, i hope we have more of this kind of activites in the future again:D

5.Recycled items for decorating your photo frame(eg. buttons, recycled papers, straws, paper clips-up to your imagiation- as long as its recycled
6. Sketchbook

Note: You will be required to pay half the amount for the course. Those who are under FAS, please approach Miss Huda with regards to payment. Miss Huda will release the consent forms from next week onwards.

SECONDARY 1 GUIDES

Regarding your girl guides uniform, please read the following details.

Everyone will receive a subsidy of $40.

For our FAS Guides:

Some of our seniors (ex Sec 4s) will be donating their uniforms and accessories. There are a few pairs of boots in the guides room that you can take (FOC). There are also a few guides handbooks in the room which belonged to the Seniors (FOC).

Those who have any financial problems, please approach Miss Huda.

Breakdown of cost are as follows:

Hat- $7.70

Uniform-$27.80

Polo tee- $8.50

Patrol emblem- $1.40

World badge-$1.80

Scarf- $2.70

Belt- $4.20

Buckle- $2.40

Hook and clip for belt- $0.80

Whistle- $2.20

Penknife- $1.30

Guides handbook- $10.00

Guides company name tag- $1.50

Boots- $30.00 (We have to visit the army shop to purchase the boots)

Total: $72.30 (uniform set) + $30 (boots- no subsidy) = $102.30

You will pay (AFTER SUBSIDY):

TOTAL: $32.30 (uniform set) + $30 (boots - no subsidy) = $62.20

"HQ Yeoman #1 Reflections"

So yep, Elizabeth and I went to the Bishan HQ to do Yeoman Service!
And it was... FUN! :D

There was a group of Brownies & Guides in the shop, so we had to help Aunty Betty to entertain the customers (yea, I made new friends, but did not manage to get their Facebook names though T.T). I went to help Aunty Betty with the packing of the customer's stuff while Elizabeth set up a table in one corner and started packing the Guide Bookmark into a plastic bag manually (we packed like about 500+ I think, but also with the help of 2 other Guides from Swiss Cottage! Thanks!)

After that, a mother-and-daughter duo came into the shop, and I entertained them. HAHA! So I let her daughter try on the Brownies uniform and T-shirt. And took a new hat for her, and asked her to proceed to the cashier counter for payment.

A Guider came in and asked to purchase some proficiency badges for her Guides. A lot of badges, such as Basket Maker, Swimmer, Dental Health, Hostess, Cook, Writers, Readers... I had a fun time searching for the badges, taking them out, and packing it. GAHHHHH THIS JOB SUITS ME THE BEST!

So after the first wave of customer, the shop was pretty quiet. So we continued packing the bookmarks patiently. At about 4PM, I was delighted to see a second wave of Guides approaching - MORE CUSTOMERS! (I'm not mad, hehe, I just like customers. Keep the money rolling in, although we don't get any share from it!). I was in-charge of getting the new sets of uniform for the Guides, while Elizabeth went into the store to stock up some of the goods.

So yep, again, I had a fun time packing about 8 sets of uniform... BUT I DIDN'T GET TO SCAN THE BARCODES AND USE THE CASH REGISTER!!!! What a pity. :'( And 2 Sec 1 customers bought the $10 BP bear :O So passionate about Guides! :')

So after the 2nd wave of customer, the shop was quiet again. Elizabeth and I continued to pack the bookmarks, but Elizabeth hoped that she could paste price tags on the items. Too bad for her, Aunty Betty said that it was not necessary to paste the price tags on the stocks at that point of time.. No choice, continue packing! :D

So slowly and steadily, all of us managed to pack all of the bookmarks!

We picked up all the litter and arranged the packed bookmarks neatly. It was 5.30PM when we finished our assignment. Time to go home!

But before that, Elizabeth and I went to buy pola snack [30 cents each] (CHILDHOOD TASTE! :')). We bought a total of 12 packets (no, we did not gorge everything ourselves) and requested for a cheaper price... Alas, no discount! :'(
And.. Aunty Betty printed the receipt, I exclaimed, "OH, CAN I GO IN TO TEAR THE RECEIPT? PLEASEEEEE".
Guess what her reply was.
"(something something) Aiyah I want to go home already, (something something)."

Yes, I was heartbroken.
